A Premium Design & Build
Already, Nothing has built iconic status with its flagship smartphones. With its gently curved pillowed glass back on Phone (2), sleek thin midframe, higher-resolution textures, and refined components, it is Nothing’s proudest design story so far. Premium is more than just materials. It’s how something looks, how long it lasts, and how it makes you feel. An entire experience. Phone (2) is designed to deliver just that from hardware to software. The front of the handset is dominated by an upper-centered punch-hole HD+ screen.
The back is made of glass with flashing light strips that drew so much attention to the Nothing Phone 1. The body frame is made of Aluminum. It is not surprising that based on its muscular build, the phone measures 162.1 x 76.4 x 8.6 mm and weighs 201g. To establish its status as a premium phone, Nothing decided on White and Colour Gray colours for its Phone (2) model.
The dual SIM handset has an IP54 rating- splash, water and dust resistant. Notable on the smartphone is the flashing light strips. There are multiple LED lights on the back (notifications, charging progress, camera fill light). If the light strip is blinking red light on the back, it is a video recording indicator. These light strips help reduce your screen time as you focus on productive work.
Immersive Display
Nothing Phone (2) comes along with a large, punch hole, 6.7-inch LTPO OLED, 1B colors, 120Hz, HDR10+, 1600 nits (HBM), 1600 nits (peak) display. A high refresh rate of 120Hz and 1600 nits brightness, in addition to 1080 x 2412 pixels, 20:9 ratio (~394 ppi density) resolution. The peak brightness is way better at 1,600 nits compared to 1,200 nits in Phone 1. With LTPO, Phone (2) can intuitively adapt its 120 Hz refresh rate to preserve power when you’re not on your phone. A killer display that doesn’t murder battery life.
High-Performance Camera Package
Phone (2) effortlessly captures real life as it’s happening. With an 18-bit Image Signal Processor (ISP), it is capable of capturing 4,000 times more camera data than Phone (1). Allowing us to deliver advanced new algorithms that make photos and videos more dynamically accurate than ever.
Main Camera
Nothing has upgraded the 50 MP main + 50 MP ultra-wide camera with smart tuning effects to make Phone (2) a front-runner. Including a new Motion Capture 2.0 algorithm that uses AI technology to accurately detect moving subjects in real time. And 2X Super-Res Zoom that can preserve any scene’s finest details.
Video Recording: Clear as crystal, steady as a rock. Create moving masterpieces in 4K@60fps on the main rear camera. For high-action scenes, turn on Action Mode. Works alongside in-built dual stabilization for sensationally smooth results when you’re on the move.
Selfie Camera
Nothing packed the front camera a bigger 32 MP sensor for picture-perfect portraits, which is two times more than Phone (1). It brings every colour, hue and expression to life and you in your best light.
Get the perfect shot with Advanced HDR. Now with 3 times more data, Advanced HDR captures 8 frames with different levels of exposure in the RAW domain. Selects the best details in each frame and fuses a final image that captures the most true-to-life result. It works with Night Mode to reduce noise and deliver clear-as-day shots at any hour.
A Smartphone made for high performance
Emphasis on Memory Space
Nothing made many improvements to the Phone 2 model, compared to its predecessor Phone 1. There are a couple of different variants of the Phone 2 available. Memory-wise, the new model packs:
- 128GB 8GB RAM
- 256GB 12GB RAM
- 512GB 12GB RAM.
Phone 1 is packed with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal memory. Thus, Phone 2 improved the internal memory capacity. Considering the Nothing phones do not support space addition, additional space on available Phone (2) models and UFS 3.1 technology ensure users are unlimited as they maximize the massive RAM and ROM, depending on the phone choice and budget.
Upgraded Chipset
Choosing the brain behind the Phone (2) was a no-brainer. With the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, Phone (2) boasts an 80% improvement in performance over its predecessor, Phone (1) which has a 7-series Snapdragon chip. Now with rapid speed, the best in-house heat management, and advanced camera capabilities. And so much more.
Running along with the chipset to ensure optimal operations on the phone including multi-tasking, browsing across multiple apps, the Internet and playing video games is a fast and efficient Octa-core (1×3.0 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3×2.5 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4×1.80 GHz Cortex-A510) CPU, coupled by a decent Adreno 730 Graphical Processing Unit.
Nothing OS 2.0
Taking inspiration from the phone’s iconic hardware design, Nothing has given its software a new visual identity that feels unmistakably Nothing. With an emphasis on functional customization, Nothing OS 2.0 allows interactions with your smartphone to be more intentional and mindful.
Customization and Widgets
Nothing has re-imagined the home and lock screen utility so you can shortcut to apps without getting distracted. Customize everything from app labels and grid design to widget size and colour themes. Now with new folder layouts and illustrated covers.
Access information from apps like Weather and Nothing X directly from your home screen. Now with swipeable views for more levels of detail. Create widgets for your Quick Settings functions for added convenience. Or save the need to unlock your phone by adding key widgets to your lock screen too.
Glyph Interface
For a world craving more me-time and less screen time, Nothing brings you the Glyph Interface. Assign different light and sound sequences for each contact and notification type and be one step ahead of who’s getting in touch. Key information, in a flash.
Everyday Functionality, Screen Free
Refer to individual Glyph segments for key information and progress tracking. Use the lights as a countdown timer, a battery meter indicator, a volume checker, and your very own portable ring light.
Glyph Notifications
New Essential Glyph Notifications lets you focus whilst still being available to those who matter most. When selected contacts or apps send you a notification, a light will shine persistently until you’ve opened it. Everything else can wait.
Glyph Composer
The stage is yours. Tap each pad to trigger a different light and sound combination. Once you’ve found your rhythm, press record and create your very own Glyph Ringtones.
Network Connectivity and Communication
Nothing Phone (2) is 5G network enabled. Make USE OF GSM / HSPA / LTE / 5G network technology used on the smartphone to maximize your connectivity and communications. You are assured of fast internet connectivity thanks to the latest WLAN installed on the phone (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct). With HSPA, LTE-A, and 5G network speed, you will have a great time uploading or downloading large files in record time. Considering the Phone (2) does not support a 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth pairing comes in handy. The upgraded 5.3, A2DP, LE version on the new Nothing Model enables efficient and fast pairing to your devices or handsets for communication, entertainment, or transfer of data.
GPS (GPS (L1+L5), GLONASS (L1), BDS (B1I+B1c), GALILEO (E1), QZSS (L1), NavIC) enables accurate location and tracking especially if you are in an unfamiliar area and need to be found or find a specific earmarked area. USB Type C 2.0, OTG enables charging the smartphone and transfer of data to/ from USB sticks and devices that support the same. An under, display and optical fingerprint scanner limit unauthorized access to your data and personal information stored on the smartphone. Other sensors installed on the Nothing Phone (2) include:
- Accelerometer
- Proximity
- Gyro
- compass
Battery and Charging
At 4,700 mAh, Phone (2) houses our longest-lasting battery yet. Phone 1 battery capacity was at 4,500W. Charge fully the battery in just 55 minutes. Compatible with 15W Qi wireless charging. Phone (2) also doubles as a 5W wireless charger so you can power accessories like Ear (2) on the go
Sustainability Focus
With a focus on recycled materials, renewable energy, packaging, and longevity, Phone (2) is designed to be one of the most sustainable smartphones on the market.
Less Carbon Print
Phone (2) has a carbon footprint of 53.45 kg, which is an 8.6% reduction compared to Phone (1). A significant achievement given the overall boost in performance, including a 200 mAh increase in battery and a screen that is 0.15″ bigger than the Phone (1).
